Quinn to start rehab on finger in six weeks

Brady Quinn's right index finger was successfully operated on by a hand specialist in Birmingham yesterday. Two pins were inserted to help repair the damaged extensor tendon and they also moved a bone chip back into place. It is planned to remove the pins in mid-January and Quinn hopes to begin throwing shortly thereafter.

Hopefully at the same time we will know who the next regime will be headed by. Fans have been very vocal over their desire to bring in Bill Cowher, but it is not known at this time if the interest is mutual.

Cowher could demand millions, but Randy Lerner has the deep pockets to justify the expense. If Cowher were signed, it would definitely mean the end of Phil Savage as GM. One can believe that Savage would not accept a demotion and Cowher would surely want to bring in his own style of players.

That brings us back to Quinn. IF Cowher is hired on as coach, is Quinn a Cowher style player? I believe he is. Smart, tough and can manage a football game. The same style of player that Cowher did not have in Pittsburgh at QB until Ben Roethlisberger was drafted. With the ‘Stache on the sidelines, Quinn under center, a tough back in Jamal Lewis and Jerome Harrison to spell him 25% - 35% of the plays, this offense could relive 2007, just with a better running game. I also believe Cowher would keep Kellen Winslow, as he has experience with players like him, (Joey Porter), and he plays harder than anyone on the team other than Josh Cribbs. On the chopping block would be Braylon Edwards, and over half of the defense.

We can dream can't we?

With Cowher and Quinn, we can win in ‘09.
