Browns Hire Eric Mangini

The Browns hire Eric Mangini - much to the dismay of many Browns Fans.

All the nay sayers on the boards... who else was Randy going to hire? Cowher bowed out, Marty was too old, we didn't want a college coach or a rookie HC promoted from a coordinator position on another team. This was the ONLY choice there was.

Other teams didn't try to get Mangini. Maybe that was because they knew he had Cleveland connections and his desire to land here.

I'm not saying he is the be all, end all... but I am saying he was the best AVAILABLE choice. I actually think this is a good hire, a proven NFL HC with proven winning habits.

I do wish they had hired a GM first, which really does discourage me. I think Pioli is staying put in New England, and that may have influenced Lerner's decision. Kokinis from Baltimore cannot be hired yet because they are still inthe Playoffs... maybe, just maybe... he's the guy and Randy wanted to get the franchise moving forward again sooner than later. With getting Mangini in place, they can start to define the new direction of the Browns.

Let the puszzle pieces fall. Guaranteed an offer has been made to Kokinis, he just can't sign yet. Let's all hope that that's what has transpired.
